Two Chardonnays, One Vintage.

Discover Our 2023 Chardonnay Collection

Same grape. Same vintage. Two very different personalities.

Not all Chardonnays are created equal, and that's exactly what makes this grape variety so interesting.

At Equilibrium Makers, our two 2023 Chardonnays show just how different this variety can be depending on the winemaking approach, oak ageing and time spent developing in the cellar.

Meet Lunika Chardonnay 2023 and Equilibrium Chardonnay 2023. Both offer their own expression of Chardonnay, but each brings something different to the glass.

Lunika Chardonnay 2023: Rich, Complex and Beautifully Mature

If you love a Chardonnay with depth, texture and a little extra character, Lunika might be your perfect match.

Extra ageing in French oak gives this wine its distinctive personality. Rich aromas of baked apple, ripe pear and stone fruit meet warm baking spices and a subtle hint of wood smoke.

On the palate, Lunika is generous and layered, with fine lees adding texture and a long, persistent finish. It's a more developed style of Chardonnay, where fruit, oak and time come together beautifully.

What to expect:

  • Aromas: Baked apple, pear, stone fruit, warm spice and wood smoke

  • Palate: Rich, textured, complex and generous

  • Style: Mature, oak-influenced Chardonnay with depth and character

  • Food pairing: Roast chicken, creamy mushroom risotto, pork with apple or aged cheeses

Best enjoyed: Now through 2030.

Equilibrium Chardonnay 2023: Fresh, Creamy and Elegant

For those who prefer a Chardonnay that balances richness with freshness, our Equilibrium Chardonnay 2023 is the one to discover.

Aromas of ripe peach, fresh apple and pear are complemented by delicate vanilla, Brazil nut and gentle oak spice. Fine lees and subtle mineral notes bring extra complexity without overpowering the fruit.

The palate is dry and full-bodied, with a creamy texture, vibrant acidity and a beautifully balanced finish.

It's an elegant expression of Chardonnay, combining fruit, freshness and carefully integrated oak.

What to expect:

  • Aromas: Peach, apple, pear, vanilla, Brazil nut and subtle mineral notes

  • Palate: Creamy, fresh, full-bodied and balanced

  • Style: Elegant Chardonnay with vibrant acidity and gentle oak influence

  • Food pairing: Grilled seafood, roast chicken, creamy pasta, Comté or fresh mushroom dishes

Best enjoyed: Now through mid-2029.

Why Can Two Chardonnays Taste So Different?

Chardonnay is one of the most versatile white grape varieties in the world. Its character can change significantly depending on where it's grown and how it's made.

Winemaking decisions such as oak ageing, time on lees and maturation can transform the final wine.

Longer oak ageing can contribute spice, toasted notes and greater complexity, while lees ageing can bring creaminess, texture and richness. Acidity and fruit character also play an important role in how fresh or generous a Chardonnay feels.

Our two 2023 wines are a lovely example of how different winemaking choices can create two distinct expressions of the same grape variety.

Which Chardonnay Will You Choose?

There's no right or wrong answer. It all comes down to what you enjoy drinking.

Choose Lunika Chardonnay 2023 if you love rich, layered wines with developed flavours, generous texture and a more pronounced oak influence.

Choose Equilibrium Chardonnay 2023 if you prefer a fresher, fruit-driven style with creamy texture, elegant oak and lively acidity.

Or why not try both side by side? It's one of the best ways to explore just how versatile Chardonnay can be.

Discover both wines in our Equilibrium Makers online boutique and find your favourite.

Two Chardonnays. Two personalities. One very good reason to open another bottle.
